Music and Rituals
Since I have been alive I have heard so many songs played for
rituals. Some rituals include weddings, funerals, and traditions, but overall I think my favorite ritual to hear music at is a wedding even though I haven't been to many weddings I just love the music that is associated with a wedding. It really isn't that sad like a funeral but more on the happy side because you just dedicated the rest of your life to another person and now you have to live up to it. Then at weddings, you have certain requests that the couple wants to listen or dance too that make the weddings come together. I know from watching a lot of Tiktok I have heard one song I know that people play at their weddings and that song is called "Believe" by Damar Jackson. I think this song is great for a wedding because of the meaning behind it and even though you been through a heartbreak you still have to believe there is love out there you just have to find the right one.
Another song that I feel will set off a wedding is "The Point Of It All" by Anthony Hamilton because he is telling his girl he can't stay away from her too long and even if he is away too long he's going to call that shows the love he has for her is real. Then as the song goes on he talks about how the point of it all is he loves her and I just feel like this is a great song to have a wedding because I know when I get married one day this song is top of the list.
I have been to a few funerals in my life but since I was little around 6 or 7 I haven't really been to funerals since my Grandfather left. But the music at funerals just sets the mood and sends a message to the family as comfort. I feel as if music at funerals helps the other person have a peaceful travel to heaven and they get to leave in a respectful way. Most funerals are mainly sad but some people tell their family before they leave not to cry when they leave but to be happy because they are in a better place and they tell them to celebrate their life and have fun.I know when it's my turn to leave this beautiful place I don't want my funeral to be sad I want to be celebrated for all the good I have done. But one song I know I perfect to play a funeral is "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth, I love this song because it's telling you that there in a better place and it thanks my family and friends for being there with me every step of the way and that's what I feel like a funeral is suppose to be like.Overall music plays an important role in most people's lives and without music, I don't know what the world would be like. I feel like if we didn't have music in today's world the world would be a mess.
Hey Dre, I really enjoyed reading your blog today, I really related to it because I know both of these songs. And See You Again was actually played at my brothers wedding as well. I had a great time reading.
ReplyDeleteHey Dre, I liked the songs that you picked. They are all very meaningful and have such a beautiful message behind them. I like your perspective on your own funeral on how you don't want your family to see it as a goodbye, but as a see you later. I think the song you chose perfectly captures that. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Dre! I enjoy the music at wedding events as well. I think it is beautiful to see 2 people dedicate the rest of their loves to one another. The music definitely sets the mood, and it is a good memory to have certain songs associated with a memorable moment like that.
ReplyDeleteHi Dre, I like the choice you pick for the wedding and the funeral, they all deliver important message to others. "See you again" also one of my favorite songs too, it’s amazing to think about how it’s always there with us through it all.
